Canal Boat - - Back Cabin: - R SYMONS, via email

QWe want to buy a petrol generator for our boat; as it will be new, when it’s not in use, can I store it inside where we have a utility area with storage? TONY REPLIES... Both petrol and a generator should be stored so that any fumes fall overboard rather than into the bilge. This means on the roof (not ideal), on a rear deck as long as there is an upstand between that area and entry to the bilge, or in a sealed locker vented overboard similar to a gas locker as defined in the BSS.
