Motorists are again being urged to slow down when crossing 200-year-old canal bridges after Gamnel Bridge over the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union was hit. In a year, the Canal & River Trust has spent over £1million repairing hump-back bridges. This latest ‘bash’ will cost tens of thousands but, in this case, CRT should be able to claim from the driver’s insurance. CRT’s Will Swinburn said: “If motorists just slowed down a bit and took more care they would really help protect our canal heritage.”
