Canal Boat - - News -

The late Edward Paget-Tomlinson is well known in canal circles for his IllustratedHistoryofCanal&River Navigations, an invaluable source of facts and information for anyone interested in waterways history. Less well known is a series of 26 articles he wrote for the BCN Society’s magazine Boundary Post beginning in the late 1990s, one for each letter of the alphabet. This book reproduces that series of articles. The alphabetical sequence includes locations on the network (A for Anglesey Basin, F for Farmer’s Bridge Locks), common features found along the waterways ( L for Limestone Kilns), BCN boats (J is for James Loader) and cargoes ( Z for Zinc). Illustrated with the original line drawings plus added photographs, it makes for a truly original way of presenting canal history.
