MARK WILLMOTT AND SIÂN MORGAN already owned a boat when they met a couple who had a Fernwood. “We didn’t even realise such nice boats existed,” says Siân. So when they made the decision to live on board, it seemed the natural solution.
Mark spent seven years as a helicopter mechanic in the Fleet Air Arm, then joined an airline as cabin crew, which is where he met Siân who still flies. He broke his ankle paragliding, so needed to find a job with less travel and the couple bought a guest house. He also gigs regularly as the bass player in a Queen tribute band called Forever Queen.
He had to work hard to convince Siân that living afloat was the right idea, but she’s now a convert and hoping to reduce her working hours so the couple can travel further afield.
