WAR RELICS PUT TO NEW USE

The iconic pill­boxes that were built in World War II along the Bridg­wa­ter & Taun­ton Canal are to be ti­died up and put to use. De­spite their age, they have sur­vived be­cause of their very solid con­struc­tion. Now the Friends of the Bridg­wa­ter & Taun­ton Canal, with sup­port from the Canal & River Trust, are to clean them up and make them safe for re­use as a rest­ing place with seats for walk­ers, to house in­for­ma­tion boards and as wildlife habi­tats.
