COLIN OG­DEN, HEAD of the Lanky Boaters Group, pulled off a spec­tac­u­lar event on 26 June by tow­ing his his­toric Win­der­mere boat Whim­brel into Ken­dal over the filled in Lan­cas­ter canal, the first boat to ‘travel’ this part for around 70 years.

The jour­ney started at Bridge House Ma­rina in Garstang and, when Colin reached Larkhall Bridge, pho­tog­ra­pher Lau­r­raine Smith took over, dressed as Cap­tain Jack Spar­row to recre­ate a scene from the movie Pi­rate­soft­heCaribbean, where a boat was hauled over­land by the cap­tain.
