Restoration volunteer injured
WEY & ARUN
A VOLUNTEER WORKING on the restoration of the Wey & Arun Canal had to be airlifted to hospital following a fall.
Brian Dunman, 78, was working on the Trust’s current project to rebuild Gennets Bridge Lock north of Loxwood, Sussex, when he is believed to suffered a serious head injury as a result of a fall. After attendance by the fire service rescue unit he was taken to hospital by the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance.
As we went to press, a Wey & Arun Canal Trust spokeswoman told CanalBoat that Mr Dunman was recovering well and expected to be home very shortly after a month in hospital.
