Restora­tion vol­un­teer in­jured

A VOL­UN­TEER WORK­ING on the restora­tion of the Wey & Arun Canal had to be air­lifted to hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a fall.

Brian Dun­man, 78, was work­ing on the Trust’s cur­rent project to re­build Gen­nets Bridge Lock north of Lox­wood, Sus­sex, when he is be­lieved to suf­fered a se­ri­ous head in­jury as a re­sult of a fall. Af­ter at­ten­dance by the fire ser­vice res­cue unit he was taken to hos­pi­tal by the Kent, Sur­rey & Sus­sex Air Am­bu­lance.

As we went to press, a Wey & Arun Canal Trust spokes­woman told CanalBoat that Mr Dun­man was re­cov­er­ing well and ex­pected to be home very shortly af­ter a month in hos­pi­tal.
