Canal Boat - - Letters -

I’VE BEEN A boater for over three years now. We enjoy all of what boating is about, the wildlife, the peace and tranquillity, but there is a very small group of people who don’t understand or care – and it’s not always hired company boats that go against the grain (though it was on this particular occasion).

We were in Penkridge a couple of weeks ago and a hired boat with lads on was across the canal. We went to help and got abuse from one of lads – he was also swearing at other boaters.

I don’t think we should put up with people like that on our canals. The companies shouldn’t hire boats out to people who aren’t going to stick to our rules which are laid down for all of us to use.

Please can boat firms consider who they let loose on our wonderful canals so we can all enjoy them?
