Flushing valve sticks

Canal Boat - - Back Cabin: Experts -

QAfter I leave my boat unattended for a few weeks with all the power disconnected, the Tecma Macerator toilet will not flush until I give the solenoid valve a smack with a screwdriver handle. Occasionally the reverse happens: water will not stop flushing and again a smack does the trick. Could it be limescale? Is it possible to strip the valve? FERMAIN, via the CB website

ATONY REPLIES… Your diagnosis may well be correct, but it may also be a swollen valve washer/seal. The valve will be a replaceable item, and I would hope they are strippable: Tecma list an overhaul kit for certain models so that suggests so.
