Canal Boat - - The Boat Test -

TRISTAR BOATS IS a family firm, run by Jeremy and Michelle Greenwood. Jeremy has a woodworking background and runs the workshop, while Michelle’s father, Peter Forster, is also involved on the mechanical and electrical side. Michelle does everything else, from planning and design of boats to the financial management of the company.

The firm is based at Redhill Marina on the River Soar and employs a handful of other people to help them fit-out their boats. They currently build five or six boats a year. Recently, these have been made up of a couple of narrowboats, a couple of widebeams and a Dutch barge each year. In addition, now that the company has a proper paint shed, they’re also doing repaints.

All the boats are bespoke. Current projects include a narrowboat with a light, bright interior, and another boat which is due to have a hybrid drive system.
