WHAT’S IN the name

Canal Boat - - Me & My Boats -

JOHN & JOSIE KELLY tell us: “Prior to buying our boat we had a share in another boat, which was called Eos (goddess of the dawn in Greek mythology). Eos was the mother of the four winds one of which is Notos (the southern wind).

“Although we now live in the Midlands we both originally come from the south. So Notos a ‘descendant’ of Eos and the southern wind was an obvious choice. We quickly spotted a third reason for naming our new boat Notos. Prior to moving to the Midlands we lived in Southampton, often shortened to Soton, which is Notos in reverse.”
