MAP APP FOR ALL READERS

Thanks to River Canal Rescue we’re delighted to offer all Canal Boat readers a free moving map app this month. RCR has recently taken over Eureauweb’s two highly successful inland waterway navigation products, e-canalmapp Apps and the Water-Way PC/Laptop/Netbook systems, rebranding them as WaterNav.
You can plan/track your route, pinpoint your exact location using GPS, find thousands of points of interest, including mooring locations and navigation details, locks and bridges, pump-outs, diesel and gas, places to eat and drink, doctors, vets and dentists, shops, laundrettes, bus stops and train stations. Clicking on a point of interest will pull out visitor information and contact details from a regularly updated database.
A trip-tracking function enables you to record the distance and time it has taken to travel, plus there’s a logbook that automatically enters the date, time and location. Users can then add their own narrative and photos.
What’s more, the new products provide a combined information system and satnav for all the inland waterways in the UK yet they don’t require a permanent internet connection (other than for downloading) because the maps are stored on your device.
RCR has been using a customised version of the Water-Way software for many years to locate and respond to stricken boaters, and the team was so impressed they negotiated with Eureauweb for the Waterway software and App side of the business. The Apps will continue to retail at £ 5.99 per region, but the UK-wide Windows PC/Laptop/Netbook software will only cost £49.
To get your free app for the Yorkshire Ouse, the subject of this month’s Cruise Guide, all you need to do is go to rivercanalrescue.co.uk, enter your magazine’s individual code from the leaflet in the magazine and then download it; using the promotional code (you will also get other regions and the full software at a discounted rate). We think you’ll like it.
T& Cs: Individual purchase of the magazine or a current subscription to Canal Boat is required to download the app, one download per purchaser.
