Thames treats

Canal Boat - - Letters -

WE ENJOYED OUR Thames trip this summer. We travelled down the Grand Union, then Paddington, Little Venice, Regent’s Canal to Lime Street Basin, and up the Thames to the top at Lechlade.

The Thames was fantastic. It was very different to the canals in many ways, particularly as the banks are all owned by some farmer or other. As soon as you put a pin in someone leaps out of the bushes and says “that will be £10 please”.

I have to say, if you plan the tidal Thames and have the right equipment, it is a very rewarding trip, and I can thoroughly recommend it.
