Generating a loss

Canal Boat - - Letters -

WHILE CRUISING ON the River Soar, I had reached Millers bridge No. 32 and moored on the bollards. It was a beautiful location with no-one around.

At 1.30pm, I cycled to the shops but was back by 2.50pm to find someone had broken into my boat and stolen my generator.

Because of my location and the weight of the generator, I wonder if this might have been done by someone on a boat who could have been heading towards the Grand Union and would have passed through Barrow upon Soar Lock.

It would help if the volunteer lock-keepers could record all the boats and the times that they go through – it could narrow searches down and catch the culprits if necessary in cases like this. MICHAEL PEASE, nb Butterfly
