NEXT YEAR’S PICS WANTED
This splendid shot (taken by Myra Stokes of the Grand Union in Berkhamsted) features on the month of October on the Inland Waterways Association’s 2017 Calendar, on sale now. And that means the photo competition for the 2018 is now open. Visit waterways.org.uk to either order a Calendar, or send in photos for 2018.
ART FOR WORCESTERSHIRE
A new arts project beginning next year will bring a creative spirit to Worcestershire’s waterways. Led by the Canal & River Trust, The Ring will be an 18-month long series of events and art commissions celebrating the region’s canals and rivers. Locations being considered for art work installations include Diglis Basins, The Commandery in Worcester and Hanbury Canal Junction.
A team of army cadets from Stourbridge spent a day helping the Canal & River Trust look after the Staffs & Worcs towpath. The cadets, from the Hereford & Worcester Army Cadet Force Stourport Platoon, filled in pot-holes to create a puddle-free walking route into Stourport town centre.
