Thames moorings run ‘by boaters for boaters’

Canal Boat - - News -

A NEW COMPANY has been set up to operate 21 out of 22 visitor mooring sites on the non-tidal Thames, which navigation authority the Environment Agency says will mean that they are now run “by boaters, for boaters”.

In 2013 the Agency set up ‘car park style’ terms and conditions including overstaying charges, initially in partnership with a car park firm. However this relied on boaters being able to register their arrival during lock keepers’ hours. Now a new company Thames Visitor Moorings has now been set up, owned and operated by former Chair of the Residential Boat Owners’ Association Rex Walden - initially for 12 months which began on 16 November. Boaters can register with TVP by phone or online any time, and pay any fees via Paypal.
