LIVING ON THE CUT

Canal Boat - - News -

Written with children and young adults in mind, and set in the present day, unlike much waterways fiction, this self-published book by an author who has himself lived afloat tells the story of an exceptional fortnight in the life of ‘continuous cruisers’ 13-year-old Toby and his family. We follow Toby and his sister Polly through the difficulties of getting to school and meeting friends from remote moorings. When an unfortunate accident puts their father Tim off work for a spell, they decide to take a holiday away from their usual area and travel down the cut, leading to meetings with new people and new experiences. Ultimately decisions are made that will affect the future of the family.
