Sweet treats for charity

Canal Boat - - Letters -

COULD I, THROUGH your Letters page, thank all the boaters and walkers who supported the Hillmorton volunteer lock-keepers’ Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 30 September?

This was the second time we had held a coffee morning for this worthwhile cause and were over the moon to have raised a super £ 313.60, plus 1 euro.

To raise this money, most of the volunteer lock-keepers, together with several local residents, had baked cakes and biscuits to be sold for donations. We also had some home-made doggie biscuits which went down a treat (with the dogs, that is).

Our thanks also go to Leslie from the Canal Chef who refused to sell cakes on the day and instead sent her customers down to us.

Thanks to all the lock-keepers (see attached photo) who took part and let’s hope we can beat this total next year.
