Time to give praise

Canal Boat - - Letters -

I ALWAYS ENJOY Kevin Blick’s column but especially so this time round with his Complain away but give praise too ( CB, Dec).

Kevin is so well balanced in his approach to the obvious dilemmas he has faced and struggled with. You might recall my article about my boat Pip which was featured in your September edition titled When corrosion starts to bite. I’m afraid that it didn’t all end there and it has taken until now, within the last two weeks or so, to get my boat ship-shape again.

I would like to thank one person in particular for making this happen. His name is Billy Knowles, who has repaired my wood-burning stove and chimney, repaired the leak coming in from the roof, and installed a new water tank (as required by the boat survey) – and even vacuumed the carpet.

He is a true gentleman and a superb craftsman. It’s a pity that people like Billy are so hard to come by.
