PEO­PLE EX­ER­CIS­ING THEIR dogs are a com­mon sight on tow­paths, but in Slaith­waite, York­shire, you might meet some­thing a lit­tle more ex­otic. The staff of the Waves Cen­tre for Adults with Ad­di­tional Needs are some­times to be seen on the Hud­der­s­field Nar­row tow­path ex­er­cis­ing Betsy and Ma­bel, the Cen­tre’s two Ku­nakuna pigs. Ap­par­ently they only cover a few hun­dred yards, but it can take an hour and a half be­cause of their ten­dency to stop for a bite to eat (to the point where they’ve out­grown their har­nesses). But with all this talk of shar­ing the tow­paths, we just hope Betsy and Ma­bel aren’t hog­ging all the space…
