DAVENTRY ARM APPROVED
Daventry District Council has given planning permission to the proposal for a new canal arm linking the town to the Grand Union. This was not an entirely surprising decision given that it was the District Council’s own planning application; however the Council says it means that it can now carry out further work to explore funding options. Although the boat lift which featured in earlier versions of the plans has been replaced by locks, the Council says that it will still be considered in detail alongside the plan for locks. The canal plan still faces opposition from Daventry Town Council.
