MIKE GRIMES, one of the team of senior managers assembled by the Canal & River Trust since its transformation from British Waterways, is to leave at Easter.

Mr Grimes will have been Head of Boating for under two years, having joined CRT in early 2015 as Head of Business Boating, then being given overall charge of boating later the same year following the merging of the licensing and enforcement functions. CRT announced he had “regrettably decided to step down”. Head of Customer Services and Operations Ian Rogers said he had “laid the foundations for a clear, productive way of working for and with boaters” and he had been “passionate about making sure boaters’ voices are heard and responded to”. Mr Grimes said he had “every confidence” that the team would “ensure things run smoothly”, while he himself planned to take time off this summer – “you may even see me out boating”.
