Coolant mix clarified

Canal Boat - - Letters -

I have just read your issue ( CB, Feb) and in Ask the Experts Tony Brooks states that we will not honour our warranty if the coolant is not at a mix of 50/50.

We state that the coolant mix should be 33-50 percent mix, the main reason for the anti-freeze is for anti-corrosive properties, not to raise the boiling point of the cooling water. We have not stated that it must be maintained at 50 percent just between 33 and 50 percent; no anti-freeze will invalidate the warranty because of corrosion.
