PROBE AFTER AQUEDUCT FALL

Canal Boat - - News -

An inquest after local teenager Kris McDowell fell to his death from the 120ft-high Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in May 2016 has been adjourned pending an independent report. Reports were provided at the inquest by the Health & Safety Executive and the Canal & River Trust but Mr McDowell’s parents raised concerns about their independence. The coroner agreed, calling for an independent report into the aqueduct’s inspection process, the condition of the rail that Mr McDowell was leaning on and the aqueduct.
