A lack of communication

Canal Boat - - Letters -

HAVING recently decided that narrowboat life was a bucket list item, we have been avidly seeking out as much information as we can. Following the exploits of the very likeable couple aboard Nutshell on YouTube we came to episode six called The Most Terrifying Day Afloat.

The episode flags what appears to be serious shortcomings in communication between the EA and the CRT. On this occasion it resulted in boaters being given the all-clear to move from the Oxford Canal to the River Thames when they clearly shouldn’t have been there. Fortunately, our intrepid duo were well experienced in all things maritime and survived unscathed. I dread to think how we as newbies would have coped. Surely the time has come to ensure that these sort of errors are never allowed to happen. Come on guys, “it’s good to talk...”. RICHARD WESTON via email
