Towpath Taskforce could tackle repairs backlog

Canal Boat - - Letters -

IN RESPONSE to Peter Owen’s letter in the April issue, I’m afraid that you answered your own question. Yes it is too much to expect CRT to surface all cross-country towpaths.

You are in the minority being a Friend and having insurance but realistically you know that this will not happen. The pressures on CRT are many and varied, and as a boater there are issues that I wish could be addressed but have to accept that they probably won’t be.

Have you thought of joining or starting a Towpath Taskforce that could address the areas you have a problem with as other areas have?

The more people who get involved practically, the more funds CRT would have available to tackle the backlog that they will no doubt always have, as that is the nature of maintaining what is an outdoor museum for all.
