BOAT TEST: BOURNE SEMI-TRAD

Karen and Ian Corless wanted the ‘perfect’ boat for winding down, so they had this one built and it’s on display at this year’s Crick show

Canal Boat - - This Month -

No expense spared for couple who added plenty of extras for luxury cruising

People buy boats for all sorts of reasons, but there’s one type of buyer we see probably more than any: they’re the couple who are approaching retirement, have done some boating holidays in the past and want to spend much more time afloat when they finally stop work.

That’s exactly the situation Karen and Ian Corless were in. They have a business which they want to wind down, and they were looking for something they could do together in the summer months. The answer was their boat, Grape

Escape, built for them by Bourne Boats for extended cruising. As you might expect, it’s a go-anywhere length, provides comfortable accommodation and has quite a few extras to make life afloat that little bit easier.

As such, it’s a very sensible choice for Bourne to take to Crick as one of their two show boats. After all, there are probably quite a few buyers out there who are having the same thoughts as the Corlesses, and this is a great example of how to meet all those requirements.
