Food for thought

Canal Boat - - Letters -

MICHAEL COWAN from Kentucky here. I just wanted to make sure you know how much we enjoy Back Cabin every month.

This Saturday I made another of the Back Cabin recipes, Plate Pie, and it got such raves I served another at an after church coffee hour on Sunday. Again, it got raves! In fact, I had several people tell me I owed them one because it was gone before they tried it.

While Molly and I only have made one trip on a canal narrow boat years ago, we are long term fans and subscribers of your great magazine. And being the main cook in the house, Back Cabin is usually my first read. This isn’t the best recipe I’ve gotten from Back Cabin. Every one I’ve tried has worked out great! So I can’t pick one as best. In fact I love Macaroni and Cheese, though in the US we usually bake it. So now that I saw Ms. Blick’s non-baked recipe, I’ll have to try as well.

We also really enjoy your magazine coverage of the various canals and boats. Due to time restraints, we haven’t been able to schedule another canal boat trip while over there. But that doesn’t stop us from using your excellent magazine as a guide for places to visit while in the UK. In fact next year we plan to make a trip to the Falkirk Wheel and ride through it on the “trip boat.”

As always, you produce a great magazine and Back Cabin is a huge part of that.

MICHAEL COWAN, Kentucky U.S.
