Staying dry in the swim

Canal Boat - - Letters -

RAINWATER SNEAKS into my engine room, under plastic tarpaulin, through masking tape, defying my best efforts to keep it out. After four years’ muddling about with several failed solutions I hit upon lining the swim with plastic sheeting. Works like a charm. All I have to do is gather the sheeting and dump the rainwater over the side. If you want to gild the lily run masking tape along the seams of the hatches to cut down the amount of water that somehow gets in the bilge.
