HERITAGE PLANS DELAYED

Canal Boat - - News -

A £5.5m Heritage Lottery Fund-backed scheme supporting the Bridgewater Canal and its surroundings between Manchester and Worsley has been delayed by three years, but Salford City Council has denied rumours that the money has been spent elsewhere. The Council says that the plans, which include reopening Worsley Delph (the entrance basin to the Duke of Bridgewater’s former underground coal mine canals) to boats and floodlighting Barton Swing Aqueduct, will now be completed in 2019.
