Boat show tar­gets hol­i­days mar­ket

IN A NEW de­par­ture, next Jan­uary’s slimmed­down London Boat Show will be in­creas­ing its cov­er­age of boat hire, with a ‘show within a show’ ded­i­cated to hol­i­days and fea­tur­ing a sig­nif­i­cant in­land wa­ter­ways el­e­ment.

The 2018 show, hosted as usual by the Ex­CeL ex­hi­bi­tion cen­tre in Dock­lands, will now run for just five days from 6 to 10 Jan­uary (half the length of this year’s event), but will in­clude the Boat­ing and Wa­ter­sports Hol­i­day Show, which or­gan­is­ers Bri­tish Marine say will “take ad­van­tage of the prime hol­i­day book­ing pe­riod” and of­fer “knowl­edge, ex­pert ad­vice and live ex­pe­ri­ences to get vis­i­tors into the hol­i­day spirit”. Fea­tures al­ready an­nounced in­clude the Show’s own pub the Lock Keeper’s Inn, while ex­hibitors con­firmed as at­tend­ing in­clude Broads hire fleet Richard­son’s and (un­der the Bri­tish Marine In­land Boat­ing ban­ner) Fox Boats ( Fens), Kris Cruisers ( Thames), Nap­ton Nar­row­boats and ABC Boat Hire.
