ANGEL FESTIVAL IN DOUBT

Canal Boat - - News -

The future of London’s and popular annual Angel Canal Festival is in doubt, after organiser Beryl Windsor announced she is stepping down. The 78-year-old, who has led the event since 1999, has suffered health problems, and her colleague Sasha Mears has already retired after heart surgery. She said that the event brings the people of Islington together “from the Boris Johnson end with posh houses to those in sheltered accommodation at the other end”, and its demise would be “a huge loss”, but if nobody volunteers to take on the lead role, this year’s could be the last.
