LOCKSIDE MICRO-PUB OPENS
A retired lock-keeper has opened part of his former lock cottage on the Trent as a micro-pub. Dave Parrott, the last paid keeper at Sawley Locks, was allowed to buy the cottage when he retired in 2014. He renovated the building, turned one end into a coffee shop, and has now opened the Lock keeper’s Rest. It serves real ale, there’s room for about 12 inside, and more seating outside. It’s open Thursday evenings to Sunday lunchtimes.
