THIS IS THE Category C version of Elton Moss’s Kingsley barge, which means it can go to sea. To achieve that categorisation, the hull is chined rather than square, there’s a minimum distance between the water level and the decks, and outlets must have valves or stopcocks to prevent sea water getting in. The owner of this boat is planning to take it to France, by sailing it across the Channel. Perhaps to make the crossing a little easier, there’s a double beer fridge in the wheelhouse...

This boat is equipped for hot and sunny French weather. It has air conditioning with outlets in each room; on the roof are 16 solar panels, that’s 4kW, which on a sunny day will provide enough power to run the air con; there’s something quite satisfying about using the sun to cool you down.

Inside there’s a U-shaped galley with a breakfast bar and a spacious saloon with a contemporary Morso stove and a big TV. There’s a sizeable dog box on the roof. There are two bedrooms, the smaller of which has a double bed and wardrobe. The main cabin, at the bow, has a hatch above the bed, blue painted panels and substantial wardrobes. Between the two bedrooms there’s a shower room that features a red glass basin and sparkly red feature tiles in the shower.

The Kingsley doesn’t have to cost this much. Other versions start at £103,000 excl VAT.

Highly specc’d boat destined for France and a worthy winner of Favourite Widebeam.
