Watch out, Sleeping Police are about

Canal Boat - - News -

NOW HERE’S A different type of Sleeping Policeman – rather than a speed bump to slow down drivers, or cyclists in this case, the dozy 3D PC has been painted on the towpath along the Regent’s Canal.

It’s part of the Canal & River Trust’s campaign for considerate sharing of towpaths between cyclists, boaters and walkers.

The move has come as a survey forming part of the Trust’s ‘Share the Space, Drop your Pace’ campaign highlighted that a quarter of people see speeding cyclists as the biggest problem, but a large majority regard physical speed control measures as either a bad idea or, at best, to be used as a last resort, hence the move to novel ways – such as the ‘policeman’ – to get the towpath message across.
