TOOLEY’S REACHES 1,500

The his­toric Tooley’s Boat­yard at Ban­bury re­cently passed a mile­stone with the 1500th boat to use its dry dock since Matthew Ar­mitage saved it from clo­sure. The yard fa­mously worked on Tom Rolt’s boat Cressy be­fore the 1939 jour­ney which led to his book Nar­row Boat, cred­ited with play­ing a ma­jor role in sav­ing the canals.
