Fitting out a narrowboat from scratch is a complicated business – certainly more so than many people seem to think. That’s why getting it right first time is difficult. Joe at Jem Boats has made it look easy, though, possibly because he’s used to boats (albeit much bigger ones) and how things work.
The fit-out is of great quality and there’s some excellent joinery and craftsmanship on show. It’s not often you see handmade furniture like this in a boat, and the whole boat has a style about it too.
And yet the price gives you change from £100,000. That’s good value in anyone’s book.
This boat has a lot going for it, and to look at it you really wouldn’t know it was built by someone just starting out on their boat building career. It looks as though Jem Boats has a sparkling future ahead.
