Headlamp operation
My problem involves the headlamps on my W-reg Focus 1.6 automatic. The headlights come on OK, but when I turn on full beam, the headlamps go out. They will not stay on together. I have replaced the indicator switch for a secondhand one, to no avail. Brian Grantam From the information you have given me, I am assuming that your Focus is a Mk1. If this is the case, it has a single headlamp main beam and dipped beam bulb H4 (472). This type of bulb will only light one element at a time to prevent the bulb from overheating. If this is the case, your vehicle is operating correctly.
