Kangarooing & ‘LIMP-HOME’ Mode
Our Mercedes started to occasionally hesitate on kickdown, when the accelerator pedal was floored. This was getting progressively worse, with the car behaving like it was being driven by a learner driver with no clutch control. It only happened under hard acceleration, but, on one occasion, it resulted in the engine switching to ‘limp-home’ mode.
At the time, we were en route to our local garage, MJ Motors in Batley. We crawled along the M621 at 55mph and, on arrival, plugged in their diagnostic equipment. Two fault codes were raised, relating to the boost pressure regulator and the exhaust back pressure. The fault codes were cleared and we now need to gather more evidence.
