New steering column

Car Mechanics (UK) - - Help! -

I wrote to you recently regarding the steering column on my 2000 Vauxhall Brava. I need a replacement inner column steering shaft, but have been unable to find one in the UK. It seems that my only course of action may be to source an overseas company that could possibly assist me. Do you know of any companies that could help? E Harrison I did find a number of sites in the US that can repair steering columns. One such company is

steeringcolumnservices.com. Another option is carid.com, which makes custom steering columns. I am not sure of the costs involved, including the shipping and import costs, which might be prohibitive, but I have supplied the details so you may contact them. Do remember the time difference in the US when phoning.

As noted before, the Brava was also sold as the Izusu Faster or Rodeo. I have sent you a printout of the Rodeo column from

parts.com, as this may help to match the unit with your vehicle’s column; unfortunately, parts.com does not do business with customers outside of the US. I have also included a printout from a secondhand parts supplier in the US, which does have plenty of Rodeo steering columns available. You will, of course, appreciate that I have not used any of these companies and so these are only suggestions and not recommendations.
