CAR (UK)

Whoa there, future boy

I’ve just spent a week in automotive time travel. My car is a 1996 Volvo 850 estate. Last week I borrowed a 2017 Audi A6 Avant. Good lord, estate car world has

changed in 21 years. Mainly for the better.

I have two questions, though. Who the hell invented the starter button and why? Now you can actually lose the car key while driving the car. Bonkers. And the sat-nav. In the Volvo, I just press Google Maps on my phone and shout ‘navigate home’. In the Audi, I had to pass a Mensa test to enter an address and the maps were from a ZX Spectrum (that’s an old computer for those of you younger than my Volvo).

So would I swap? Of course I would. In an instant. Just give me the key… oh no it hasn’t got one. Nat Low
