Aicon concept car

CAR (UK) - - Insider -

One letter away from a climate control typo, the Aicon name needs context. Those ‹irst two letters are important: AI, for arti‹icial intelligence, is the next big thing in cars. As vehicles become ever more connected and autonomous, they’re gradually eroding the need for a driver.

The Aicon encapsulates current Audi thinking on what that means for mere human beings. Large doors open to reveal a four-seater lounge with no steering wheel or pedals (this is a Level 5 autonomous car built for hands-o— driving) and homely details abound.

In an age of driverless pods, why will you desire one brand of car over another? Audi hopes that the Aicon will stir human wants, nudging customers into a robo-cab bearing four rings; not the livery of some faceless tech corporation.
