Cruise control through the ages

In 1958 Chrysler o ers Speedostat, initially as an option on luxury models such as the Imperial, called Auto-pilot. Responding to high demand, Chrysler soon makes it available across the range. Cadillac follows, dubbing it Cruise Control.

In 1965 AMC comes up with a di erent system, CruiseComm­and, that’s closer to what we’ll later understand as cruise control; reach your desired speed, hit a button on the dash, car takes over.
