I struggle to do a concertina fold sometimes, especially with shapes. Do you have any suggestions that could help?

Cardmaking and Papercraft - - Crafter’s Q&a - Ashlynn Etebar, London

Katie says: A really fun and easy way to create shaped concertina cards is to use dies. Sizzix Bigz dies are perfect for this as the steel rule blade will cut through several layers of card at once. I have used the Sizzix Bigz Die – Hearts to create this concertina card. It is fairly simple to create. I simply cut a strip of 12x12 card slightly longer than the die-cut shape. I then held the card over the shape and traced around it, marking just a fraction in on either side so that when the shape is die-cut you get a concertina fold rather than a single die-cut shape. I folded the strip of card into a concertina using the markings to know where to fold and run it through my Big Shot. I then used the other hearts on the die to layer onto the concertina hearts. To decorate the card, I used the Sizzix Mini Dies and some small sentiment stamps.

Create a concertina card with any shape!
