Apart from the obvious publicity that the World Carp Classic attracts, we seem to hear very little from Lac de Madine these days. So it was really good to hear from Jon Scoffield, who has been fishing the big lake and with some success! Jon, and his mate, Tom, fished for a total of seven nights landing 16 fish. Jon had 11 fish up to 40lb 2oz – the majority being commons which he thought was strange for Madine. This was their second trip in the space of just three weeks over there, landing a total of 26 fish all told, up to 48lb. All the fish were taken on 20mm Rod Hutchinson KMG, using snowman rigs comprising size 2 Gardner Mugga hooks, Gardner Sly Skin hooklinks, MCF lead clips and 10oz leads fished over approximately 2kg of KMG boilies and 10kg of hemp at 200 yards. They were especially happy with the results over both trips, given the fact swim choice was limited due to the fact the island wasn’t fishable because of unsafe banks.
