GEAR­ING UP FOR BOARDMASTERS

MORE ACTS AN­NOUNCED FOR BOARDMASTERS AS THE COUNT­DOWN TO A SUMMER OF FUN BE­GINS.

Boardmasters is stoked to re­veal that over 60 more acts have been added to the line up for this year’s fes­ti­val. This in­cludes the line-up for The View and The Net­loft live mu­sic ar­eas. These new acts join Boardmasters head­lin­ers Two Door Cin­ema Club, Jamiro­quai and Alt-j for five days of sun, surf and world-class mu­sic across two sim­ply stun­ning sites – Water­gate Bay and Fis­tral Beach. Boardmasters, Corn­wall’s own surf and mu­sic fes­ti­val takes place this year from Wed­nes­day 9 – Sun­day 13 Au­gust on the sun­drenched Cor­nish coast.

‘Dream Catch Me’ hit­maker New­ton Faulkner has been added to the Boardmasters bill. New­ton is no stranger to Boardmasters, hav­ing daz­zled crowds with his spell­bind­ing folky sets in 2007 and 2010, as well as play­ing the Beach Ses­sion in 2011. Mak­ing his grand re­turn and grac­ing the Main Stage, New­ton will no doubt de­light his South­west fans with classics in­clud­ing ‘Gone In The Morn­ing’, ‘Teardrop’ and many more. Frances will also be tak­ing to the Main Stage. The Oxford-born singer song­writer who re­leased her de­but stu­dio al­bum ‘Things I’ve Never Said’ ear­lier this year. The in­cred­i­ble, vi­brant afrobeat elec­tro-funk eight­piece band Ibibio Sound Ma­chine, fronted by singer Eno Wil­liams have also to­day been added to the Main Stage line-up.

The Land of Saints stage, fa­mous for bring­ing the in­die rock vibe to Water­gate Bay, adds the likes of Lower Than At­lantis, Lucy Rose, Fickle Friends, For­ma­tion, Honey­blood to its head bang­ing summer line-up. Also there’s acts added to the Un­leashed tent where the party re­ally gets go­ing with the big­gest, most bang­ing tunes, in­clud­ing Star One now lined up for Boardmasters’ ul­ti­mate party big top. Not for­get­ting the spir­i­tual home of dance and elec­tro – The Point. With a line-up sure to get ev­ery­one rav­ing into the early hours, Flash­mob and Carly Foxx are amongst the acts to join the thump­ing bill.

The View is back, bring­ing new and emerg­ing artists to per­form against an un­for­get­table back­drop, Boardmasters has to­day un­veiled the line-up for this Au­gust. Mar­cus Mc­coan, Mul­lally, Haunt The Woods, Win­ters Hill, John Buckley, Cather­ine Mcgrath, Isaac Gra­cie, Sonny, Patrick James, River Matthews, Lily Ren­dle, Maisy Start Wal­ter, Boo Seeka, Joe Fox, Wild­wood Kin, Matt Mal­tese, A K Pat­ter­son and Tommy Ashby com­plete The View’s bill of the fresh­est fu­ture stars.

The Net­loft made its Boardmasters de­but last year with suc­cess in epic pro­por­tions. The care­fully cu­rated line-up is made up of un­der the radar and ready to be dis­cov­ered artists. She Drew The Gun, Saint PHNX, Char­lotte Car­pen­ter, Chris Had­don, White Room, Char­lie Bow­dery, Lives, Ider, Alice Jemima, Get Inuit, Wild Front, Her’s, Se­cret Tongues, Suzie Mac, Rue, Banfi, Mead­owlark, Child­care, Dex­tric, Wil­liam The Con­querer, In­dian Queens and Mog Jones make up the line-up for this in­ti­mate stage.

In fur­ther fes­ti­val de­vel­op­ments, to­day also sees the an­nounce­ment of Boardmasters’ first-ever on-site res­tau­rant, The Wild Oys­ter, hosted by chef Lee Skeet. Lee, one of the most ex­cit­ing chefs in the South-west has worked at some of the world’s most es­teemed restau­rants. He’s since re­turned to his na­tive Corn­wall. The Wild Oys­ter will be serv­ing up break­fast, as well as a five-course taster menu, us­ing the fresh­est, lo­cally-sourced Cor­nish pro­duce. The res­tau­rant, which boasts breath­tak­ing views from the Water­gate Bay cliff top, is a must for fes­ti­val food­ies. Book­ing is es­sen­tial via the Boardmasters web­site.

Boardmasters can also re­veal de­tails for this year’s Glamp­ing op­tions at the all-new Cloud Nine Bou­tique Camp­site. Adding a touch of lux­ury to the Boardmasters ex­pe­ri­ence, this is glam­orous ac­com­mo­da­tion on site. Boardmasters is of­fer­ing a va­ri­ety of Glamp­ing op­tions to suit the re­quire­ments of dif­fer­ent group sizes.

In­spired by the free­dom, ad­ven­ture and cre­ativ­ity of surf­ing and mu­sic, Boardmasters was born in 1981. Ex­pect par­ties that run late into the night and a beau­ti­ful beach to re­cu­per­ate on dur­ing the day. The 5-day event is sit­u­ated across two stun­ning lo­ca­tions in Corn­wall - the surf­ing mecca of the UK, Fis­tral Beach, where world class In­ter­na­tional Surf Com­pe­ti­tions take place, and ar­guably the most stun­ning lo­ca­tion in the coun­try to watch live mu­sic, Water­gate Bay.
