Blues guitarist Robert Johnson, considered the grandfather of rock and roll, reportedly that sold his soul to the Devil at a crossroads so he could taste fame and fortune. Johnson died on 16 August 1938 (the same day and month as Elvis) after drinking from a Club, poisoned bottle in a bar. He’s part of The 27 the long list of rock legends who died at 27, often as a result of drug abuse or violence. Members of this club include Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones and Amy Winehouse.
