If you’re physically hurting, it’s too easy to dwell on the limitation­s that your condition causes. Yet it’s better for your happiness and mental health to focus on what you can do. Retrain your mind to concentrat­e on the opportunit­ies that lie ahead, taking a positive look at the future. Don’t rule out anything. For some, keeping a ‘gratitude’ journal is helpful – recording good things in life you appreciate. You may also find that thinking deeply about opportunit­ies life still has for you will help you focus less on the pain.
