Bolling Hall has a num­ber of spooks. In the 1600s, the Earl of New­cas­tle was sta­tioned there with his troops. His bed cover was tugged off and he woke up to find a ghostly woman wring­ing her hands and telling him to, ‘Pity poor Brad­ford.’ This en­counter caused the Earl to change his mind about lay­ing waste to the city.
