Difficult question
The callous murder of 10-year-old schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman by Ian Huntley in August 2002 shocked the nation. During his first police interview, the way in which he fidgeted in his chair showed he was hiding something sinister. Huntley was sentenced to life, to serve a minimum term of 40 years.
Cliff says:
‘When Huntley was asked, “Was there any occasion when you had physical contact with the girls?” his cover crumpled. He knows that there’s a difficult question and as soon as his questioner gets half-way through that, he knows where she’s going with it. You see some squirming, moving back in the chair.’
